Presentation 3 Notes:
Since the host for the virus is the cell, we felt that since the cell itself dies and regenerates with a high frequency, it would be interesting to focus on the dead cells as a sign of ageing. In particular, the skin cells which is really what we think of as dust.
The object:
To build a scale model of one unit of Le Corbusier's "Unité d'Habitation" (translation: Housing Unity).
The model will have one of its walls made of plexiglass so the indside can be viewed.
The idea is to replicate the ventilation system by attaching a fan that circulates the air in the model.
And taken the averge amount of dead skin cells (dust) a human gives off over a specific time period, we will simulate this ageing of the housing unit by introducing the dust into the ventilation system of the model over time.
For example, 30 seconds in real time might represent 1 year etc..
An interesting idea would be to do everything to the same scale (in true Le Corbusier spirit): Let's say the model is scale 1:20, then time should also be scaled 1:20 etc..
Through this model we can observe the ageing through the movement and accumulation of dust.
